Ceremonial Grade Matcha

This grade of matcha has a bolder, more robust flavour and more bitter notes as compared to ceremonial grade matcha. It is slightly less vibrant green than ceremonial grade matcha but the colour and flavour when blended into recipes shines through other complementary ingredients.

Matcha should either be stored in the freezer, if you plan on not opening it for a while, or in the fridge, once it’s opened. In both cases, store in an air-tight container away from light. Improper storage can affect the vibrancy, colour, and taste of Matcha.

To 1g Matcha, add a little hot water.

Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk, stirrer or milk frother until a thick paste is formed.

Keep adding hot water in small amounts whisking with each addition (upto 150ml) until tea is frothy.

Drink up! If you like a strong cup of Matcha, add one more teaspoon of Matcha into the mix.

Ceremonial Matcha will have a higher caffeine and l-theanine content (good for energy and focus), while later harvest grades, like our Culinary, have a slightly higher antioxidant catechin content.

How To Brew ?

Step 1

Add Matcha: To 1g of Matcha, add a little hot water.

Step 2

Whisk the paste: Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk, stirrer, or milk frother until a thick paste is formed.

Step 3

Add hot water: Keep adding small amounts of hot water, whisking with each addition (up to 150ml), until the tea is frothy.

Step 4

Froth the tea: Continue whisking until the Matcha becomes frothy.

Step 5

Drink up: Enjoy your tea! For a stronger cup, add one more teaspoon of Matcha to the mix.

Storage Instructions

Store in the foil pouch in the tea tin or transfer to an airtight container, kept in cool dark place. If not consumed immediately teas should be stored in the refrigerator.

If storing in the refrigerator/ freezer, pack in small completely airtight packets or jars. Before use, wait for the tea to reach room temperature to prevent any condensation.

Your Queries

Culinary matcha is a special grade of matcha designed for cooking and baking, made from finely stone-ground powder sourced from the second harvest of shade-grown tea leaves from Japan.

Culinary matcha has a bolder, more robust flavor with slightly bitter notes. It’s designed to blend well with other ingredients in recipes, while ceremonial matcha is used for traditional tea ceremonies and has a smoother, more delicate taste.

Store your culinary matcha in an airtight container, either in the freezer if unopened or in the fridge after opening. Keep it away from light to maintain its vibrancy and flavor.

Culinary matcha is perfect for baking, smoothies, lattes, and other desserts. It can be whisked into water for a drink or added to recipes for a vibrant green color and rich flavor.

Yes, culinary matcha contains caffeine, though slightly less than ceremonial matcha. It’s great for a natural energy boost without the jitters.
