My blue pea tea isn't turning blue, but looks almost black at times. Am I doing something wrong?
The color released by the Blue Pea flowers depends on the PH level of the water. If the water is mildly alkaline, the brew will turn green, and if it is strongly alkaline it will turn almost black. Similarly, if the water used is mildly acidic, the brew will turn Purple in color ( similar to when lemon juice is used)
How do you use the blue pea flowers?
Blue Pea Flowers can be brewed using the following method: Add 1 teaspoon per cup (150ml). Always pour hot water (80°C) on the leaves and not the other way around. Steep for 2-3 minutes. Tastes best with a dash of lemon juice.
Is this a floral, fruity or herb or citrus flavour brew?
Blue Pea flowers has a distinct floral aroma that gives it an earthy and woody flavor, similar to green tea.
I love this tea...it helps to calm me down after a tiring day...and i enjoy seeing it change colour when i squeeze some lemon in it..
This is my second favourite brew after Hibiscus ! The blue hues itself are so appeasing to the eye and these flowers being naturally sweet ; the experience of sipping on this brew is an absolute delight. I like mixing it with lavender buds or oolong tea- doesn't take it's sweet notes away. Highly recommend !
