White Tea Vs. Matcha Green Tea. Which is healthier?

Whether its black tea, Oolong tea, white tea or green tea, we all have our favourite. Most of us enjoy a particular tea for its delicious taste, but moreover, we are intrigued to discover the health benefits. White tea and Matcha green tea are two which come to my mind when considering healthy brews.

White tea is rare which makes it expensive. It usually comes from the first flush and plucked quickly from the unopened buds of tea shoots. It undergoes minimal processing and is left to wither and dry in the sun, which ensures less oxidation. White tea is also lighter on the stomach than green and black teas, because of the lower tannin content. White tea is said to have a high level of flavonoids, which improve vascular health and helps to prevent heart diseases. It’s also popular as it enhances a weight loss program. White tea is less bitter than green teas because the leaves are plucked at an early stage.

Matcha is also priced at a premium price because it is said to have as much as ten times the health benefits of normal green tea. Matcha is grown under shade which increases the Chlorophyll levels and amino acids. Matcha uses the entire leaf which is ground into powder. This gives it a fresh vegetal taste. It’s considered to be a superfood which is packed full of antioxidants, boosts metabolism and has also been linked to cancer prevention.

So which is healthier? White tea or Matcha. Since Matcha is served in Japanese tea ceremonies, we’re giving it thumbs up. The reality is White teas and Matcha green tea are both full of goodness. As Matcha is high in Caffeine we suggest drinking it at the start of the day. On the other hand, our white tea is mixed with Lavender which makes it the perfect low-caffeine tea to sip at the end of a long day. It will help you relax and get a good night sleep.
