Mulled Tea, of Aromas And Flavours That Remind Us of Christmas.

Mulled Tea is inspired by Mulled Wine.

Mulled wine is a traditional Christmas drink with its origins way back in Roman times, ( they didn’t want to waste leftover wine and who can fault that)! This drink is made, by heating wine and adding sugar, juice and spices. Cinnamon, orange, lemon and cloves are typically used.

A lot of people also brew a mulled tea first and then add the wine and heat this through.

Though Mulled tea is an excellent warmer on a cold winter’s night, there’s no reason why we can’t enjoy the drink that reminds everyone of Christmas.

Here’s an easy- peasy, 4 step way to beckon the season and its cheer with Mulled Tea:

INGREDIENTS:  5 tsps loose black tea leaves (English Breakfast works best)

 4 whole cloves

 6 whole allspice

 4 tsps cinnamon

 1 tsp grated orange (rind)

1/2 tsp lemon rind (grated fresh)

fine mesh cheesecloth (or mulmul cloth)

Place all the contents on a spread out cheesecloth/ mulmul cloth.

Step 2

Bring the corners together and tie with string.

Step 3

To brew place this tea bag in a small tea pot / mug and add 200ml of boiling water.

Step 4

Steep 4-5minutes

FOOD PAIRING :Goes beautifully with Christmas Stollen, Mince pies and Christmas Cake.
