Rare Tea Bush Flower Bud

I'm told I was extremely lucky to find one!

Regular pruning and plucking of tea bush does not allow the bush to flower. So you can imagine my excitement when I plucked this white bud.

Tea bush are left alone once every few years so that the soil can renew itself. This flower bud was a charming find when we ventured into the tea bushes which were growing moodily at Adawatte Estate, Sri Lanka.
